The beautiful North East coast

I had a chance to get out to the coast this weekend, on a rare and beautiful sunny day! Needless to say everything here is covered in a fine blanket of snow, just when you thought it had gone for good…

Over the Midnight Stars

I’ve been in love with the decadency of Victorian jewellery for as long as I can remember. I also collect a lot of late Victorian jewellery picked up from many an antiques fair over the years. I love the quality you find in pre 1950’s pieces, the use of glass and metals that have lasted the test of time. As such I created this lavish locket for those ( who like myself) like to wear a large piece which is a bit more attention grabbing, whilst also retaining a vintage quirk about it. Only one of these necklace have been created, a locket large enough to hold photos of your loved ones and set with an (impossible to photograph to catch ever sparkle) blue goldstone. This is a piece I was far too tempted to keep for myself.

In with the new year

I hope everyone had a fantastic christmas and new year. The weather is pretty beautiful but bleak in my tiny village. Trudging through 8 inches of snow everyday means wellies are the only appropriate footware which don’t really fit with my usual faux fur coat ensemble and make me feel like it’s almost time to join the blue rinse brigade.

Also after finally decorating my old room, I shall be moving again in a few weeks into a fantastic new house which I can’t wait to make my mark upon. I’ve already discovered some fantastic new wallpapers and the only sales shopping that I enjoyed was stocking up on Whittard of Chelsea’s colourful handpainted kitchenware.

I’m very excited although the prospect of introducing a wily house cat and a bad tempered house rabbit will have its results yet to be seen…

The Edwardian Seance

The ghostly work of William Hope who claimed to be able to capture the after life in this series of fantastic, macabre and eerie photographs.

Last Christmas Shopping day!

pansy-christmas

Don’t forget Thursday 17th is the last guaranteed shipping date at The Parlor. I will be away from the 18th so will not be around to answer any queries at this time. Have a fantastic Christmas everyone and thank you for your orders and support this year. I hope you loved your pieces as much as I did creating them. Lucy x x x

Big Band Bracelet & Xmas Shopping

New to the store is the Big Band Bracelet. I love this piece, its been created using incredibly rare 1950’s German glass cabs that have been set into an antiqued brass bracelet. The cabs measure 1.8cm in diameter and it looks fantastic once worn. I always prefer to use the antiqued brass findings over silver or gold plated. They’re durable, won’t tarnish and will last the journey so to speak!

It’s getting closer to Christmas and I have to admit, I haven’t come close to finishing my christmas shopping. I’m hoping to get a few bits on my weekend in London but will be avoiding all the usual haunts (I did want to go to Liberties/Graham & Green etc.) but feared the madness of xmas shoppers. So I will be taking in a few boutiques on Primrose Hill instead with my gorgeous friend Grania.
